The First Mutual Glimpse

Looking Through Another Mind A dangerous connection Abra uses the photograph to recover memories of Bradley’s abduction and killing. Her far-seeing carries her into Rose’s perspective at a supermarket. A warning to both sides Rose senses the intruder and tries to identify her, but Abra forces the connection apart. Neither knows the other’s exact location, yet each now recognizes a formidable opponent.

The Window Apparition

A Face at the Glass Fear becomes personal Rose appears to Abra at a second-floor window, carrying the same predatory presence Abra remembers from Bradley’s death. The vision makes the threat immediate rather than theoretical. A call for help Abra summons Dan through their psychic connection. Her fear turns their earlier contact into a working alliance, and the conflict expands beyond a child’s private visions.

The Trapped Intruder

A Prepared Mind Rose searches the drawers Rose enters Abra’s dream and begins opening mental files to find her name, location, and confidants. She expects a sleeping child to be easy to inspect. The trap closes Abra’s alarm, spotlights, and imagined warrior avatar catch Rose’s hand. The psychic intrusion becomes a humiliating retreat and teaches Abra that her defenses can injure the hunter.

The Phone Challenge

A Chosen Meeting Setting the terms Abra calls Rose directly and taunts her as a coward for hunting children through numbers and ambushes. She proposes meeting alone at Roof O’ the World. A dangerous bluff Abra insists the True Knot stay together in the Lodge, while Rose accepts the terms but intends to exploit the group’s collective strength. Each woman conceals part of her plan.

The Fall from the Platform

The Final Contest A coordinated defense Dan and Abra work together through the mental hub, while Billy’s truck disrupts Rose’s position. Rose’s attempt to turn Dan’s inherited rage against Abra fails. The hunter is defeated Using their joined strength, Dan and Abra push Rose over the railing. Her death ends the direct threat, while the destroyed hat prevents her symbol of power from surviving the confrontation.
